Well, this is it, my friends. The last "Cecil Moon" komik strip ever produced. It is aktually a nice "final" strip. It leaves the reader with a very meaningful take on life. A small nugget of wisdom that transends humor and life itself. I was approached by VH1 to do a "Where are they Now" episode but deklined. It's better to fade into obskurity than to be remembered as a has been.

I'm not good with long goodbye's. Not that this is goodbye necessarily. Perhaps a long kat nap until the next strip, if that happens. Never say never, right?

I was axed to return to kollege in another fashion after Dean graduation from UNC. His good friend Kathryn Bryant was the editor of another kampus publication at ECU and invited me to be a part of it. I, of kourse, took the job but only after my bout of hibernation! Someone mistook me for dead it appears!

The Lost (and Last) Cars from Mars

Okay, so I know this is the Cecil Moon blog and it should be all about me, don't worry, I am wrapping it up with this strip bekause it's the last known existing "Cars from Mars" ever. I wanted to give props to the "other" strip that Dean kreated and I hope you enjoyed seeing it.
This strip never made it to publikation. In fact, it barely made it to paper. Dean had to pen over this strip just so that it kould skan. It was a pencil drawn strip idea waiting in the wings for the next Auto Advisor. Sadly, that Advisor never came. Aktually the TRUE lost strip was never rekovered. It featured a bunch of kockroaches marching the streets in protest of the new VW Beetle. Perhaps it was a good thing it was never rekovered.

This is a redo from a strip that got lost in between publikation. Dean has a conspiracy theory that perhaps his jabs at auto dealers weren't taken in stride.

"Jeeb" is a reference to a nickname Dean and his sisters made up for dumb people. The name later made its way into an unfinished science fiktion story.

Dean's talents were noticed within the Klassified Department and he soon found himself asked to kreate an all new one panel strip for a newsletter called the "Auto Advisor". This newsletter was mailed to all The News & Observer's auto advertisers!! These were major akkounts but Dean didn't realize it at the time. "Cars from Mars" was the strip he delivered.

I truly believe everyone should work with the general publik at least once in their lifetime. Working in the food service industry should be a requirement for everyone who eats out. This particular job isn't the food industry but the same principle applies. There are some people out there that just think the world revolves around them and everyone else is an idiot. Multiply that by at least 20 per rep in the Klassified Industry on a given day. Kustomers tend to forget that we are indeed people (or kats in my kase) too with real feelings. This strip is for all my peeps out there.

Note: The Klassified Deptartment did publish this strip in the Klassified Information newsletter, however, the kompany newsletter N&OTES suspiciously failed to publish it.

The idea was to introduce a new kharacter into the strip. Cecil was kinda getting stale and the strip needed some new blood so Dean introduced Klassy. The only problem is Dean kouldn't kommit to a gender for Klassy and soon the kharacter just got dropped. Mostly bekause Dean kouldn't draw dogs that well! Good thing for us kats!

As an inside sales rep one must wear many hats. You kome akross so many different personality types that you must be able to adjust to them; in many kases on the fly. I personally found this challenge quite fun bekause it broke up the monotony of the day and each kall was unique in its own way.

Mistakes happen and quite often! I was no exception, unfortunately. You can find some funny mistakes made in the klassifieds if you look hard enough. During my tenure the kall kount was very high and the probability of mistakes was greater. It's tough going from kall to kall without something happening. After all we're all human right....wait...er....well, you understand!

The Kat, that's me, was forced into the kruel working world alongside his kreator, that's Dean, at the News & Observer Publishing Kompany. Dean began his kareer in June of 1996 as an Inside Sales rep shortly after kollege. I had no other choice but to go with him. The Klassified Department kreated a newsletter just for MOI!!! I was so thrilled. They filled it with superflous happenings and meanderings of the department but the real star was yours truly. Here's my first strip as a working stiff!

The Christmas Trilogy comes to an end with this one. Dean really tried to stretch his kreative abilities to show as much detail and perspektive as he kould. It resulted in a nice homage to the klassik Christmas story "'Twas the Night Before Christmas."

Here's a take on the "You might be a redneck if..." that Jeff Foxworthy kreated. Dean tried to get all fancy with shadows and stuff with this strip. He even hung little Christmas lights between panels. He also made sure not to mess with the C in Christmas!

The Honor Kode

Like most good kolleges, the University of Kollege, had an honor system. It went something like this: "It shall be the responsibility of every student at the University of Kollege to obey and support the enforcement of the Honor Kode, which prohibits lying, cheating or stealing when these aktions involve akademik processes or University, student or akademik personnel akting in an official capacity." Yada Yada. The Honor Pledge: "On my honor I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this examination." Signed, Cecil Moon.

Due to this honor system, some of my most inspired answers were kreated. I am sure my professors got a kick out of my exams.

The irony? The kid next to me kopied my answer! October 1996

Halloween Hijinx

I had to fast forward a few years to post this strip. After kollege I went on to the Klassified department where Dean worked. They needed some extra "operators" and I needed the extra kash so I said sure. Halloween turned out to be fun bekause we ate lots of desserts and dressed up in kostumes. I liked taking it out on the kustomers more, though.

Ah, komputers! What did we do before them? But even before the internet was born, before massively multiplayer online games, before chat, text, IM, e-mail, shopping karts, and Ebay, there was God. The Man! Always there with a listening ear. Take for instance this English paper that I had due at 8am at which this was 7:15 a.m. the morning of. Shakespeare kouldn't have kreated such elegant prose with such immediate inspiration. Okay, I failed it but that doesn't mean God didn't help a kitty out.

It shows a cirkle and then maybe a triangle and the third panel is the full rendition of a kreature that took the artist three hours to do the shading on the upper lip? Well, this is Dean's homage to that sort of thing, except he decided to be kreative which I was none to well pleased!

The Many Faces of Cecil Moon

Every good kharakter has to have a repertoire of facial expressions at his disposal. Here Dean was doodling with different ideas to expand my akting kapabilities. He must have felt that my frozen cheezy grin was too prediktable. My boy Kalvin had amazing facial expressions and I think Dean tried his hardest to imitate that. (My eyes were inspired by Sonik the Hedgehog, Dean klaims).

The Legend of Cecil Moon

Many moons ago a young dreamer named Dean Jones doodled a remarkable specimen of feline purrfektion in his 9th grade physikal science klass and named him Cecil. In order to give Cecil personality he added the first “kool” word he kould think of which turned out to be Moon. Thus, the charming, witty and ultra intelligent kat known as MOI was born.

Cecil (that's me) was akcepted to The University of Kollege on a minority skholarship in a komic strip kalled “Cecil Moon: Kollege Kat” for the Kampus Khristian Fellowship newsletter. There Cecil learned what it was like to be on his own for the first time. The freedom, the responsibility, the kute kitties. Yep, kollege was good! But it was short lived. Soon, Cecil found himself in the working world at a newspaper answering kalls from klassified kustomers (much like his kreator). The second strip was kalled appropriately enough “Cecil Moon: Klassified Kat”. Cecil has also appeared in wedding and birthday kards. He waits not so patiently for his kreator to get off his lazy bum and kreate more adventures.

This blog is dedikated to the greatest kat ever to grace blank paper everywhere, ME!!!

P.S. Any resemblances to actual persons, living or dead, is merely a cheap and blantant rip off of the one and only true Cecil Moon and is purely koincidental.
